Jeremy Grant Levine
"Advanced Basics for Intermediate Glassblowers"
May 30 - June 2 (4-day workshop)

This class will cover a few different color prep techniques, including blow outs, vac stacks and sleeving. The main focus will be hollow shaping, encalmos, lip wraps, montage and line work. We will also cover glass theory, deeper understanding of heat base and wall weights, and focusing on tightening up hand skills.

This class meets from 9am to 5pm each day, Tuesday through Friday, with additional studio time Tuesday through Thursday, from 5pm to 9pm.

Jeremy Grant-Levine aka GERM is a glass artist and educator based out of Philadelphia PA. Jeremy started flameworking as a student at Salem Community College in 2003 and graduated with a degree in Scientific Glass in 2006. After a few years working in the scientific industry, he left to develop his own artistic voice and skills in Philly's growing pipe making community. Jeremy spent several years traveling the country, learning from and working in collaboration with his contemporaries.

He is a founding member of "Krushmore", a collective studio in Philly along with Marbleslinger. Jeremy has taught flameworking all across the United States and had the honor of teaching with Gianni Toso in Israel. While pipe making is Jeremy's first love in glass, he has also ventured into large scale installation art with his project "1000 Glass Cranes" where he spent 2 years creating 1000 origami cranes out of glass. The full immersive installation was shown at The Aviary Gallery in Philadelphia. Jeremy is also known for his borosilicate interpretation of the traditional German soft glass technique called "montage".
